I’m Benjamin Turner, a full-stack software engineer who creates solutions using open-source web technologies, accessible UI/UX design, and technical writing.
After receiving a BFA in Ceramics from the University of Oregon, I followed a roundabout path to a career in tech.
I transitioned to being a freelance web developer after several years working as a ceramic artist, art teacher, and Starbucks Barista
My first websites were built on WordPress as a way to market my art. Eventually, I started working with Peaceful Media to create custom themes and plugins for various clients.
In 2007, I joined Flywheel and was part of the acquisition by WP Engine.
I’m still with WPE, and over that time, I’ve held numerous roles, including:
- Technical Support Agent
- Team Lead
- Technical Community Manager
- Software Engineer
